Abbe Robinson

Writer / Director

Abbé has been making films since she was 15 years old. She studied at the International Film School, Wales where she gained a degree in Film Production. Since graduating she has worked as an Assistant Director and a studio director in Film and TV.

Abbe has been commissioned as a Writer/Director twice by UK Film Council and Screen Yorkshire. Her short film ‘The Piper’, an urban fairytale, was made on 16mm in 2005 and has since played at over 40 international film festivals and has been nominated for several awards including the Yorkshire Film award 2005 and the POSMA award 2006. The Piper has been picked up by several distribution companies and was broadcast earlier this year in America on MTV’s Logo channel. In February The Piper was released on Wolfe Video’s best of short film compilation ‘She Likes Girls’ DVD in America and Canada.

Abbé’s latest short film ‘Private Life’, a 1950’s drama was shot on 35mm. Having just won the Grand Jury Prize at the international Planet Out Short Movie Awards 2007, and the Yorkshire Film award at the Leeds International Film Festival, Abbe is hoping to continue her success with a low budget feature film or TV drama in the near future.


Maria Pavlou

Maria has a Degree and a Master of Arts in Film and Moving Image and has achieved success with all her short films. Whilst studying at film school Maria achieved numerous film festival awards for her short film “ Largo” and "Rights of Passage" premiered with Michael Winterbottom's "In This World" at the Kurdish Film Festival in London. After leaving film school Maria’s first commission “Birthday Boy” exploring the lives of young unaccompanied asylum seekers in the UK was broadcast on Channel 4’s “Outside” Strand. Maria has again achieved great success as a Producer with “Private Life” winning the “Planet Out Award” 2007 and a second time winner of the Yorkshire Film Award” 2006.


Candida Richardson

Director of Photography


Candida began her career in the camera department working on several features including James Bond’s Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies. Candida has excelled and now works freelance as a successful Director of Photography. Candida is a regular Director of Photography on the UK’s Channel 4 Television Network working on a variety of formats and programs for television networks all over the world. She was also the Director of Photography for the ten minute short film “Girlfriend in a Kimono” which was used as the introduction to the world renowned Raindance Film Festival 2005. Candida has shot all of Abbe Robinson’s short films including the “Planet Out” award nominee “The Piper” and “Planet Out Award” winner 2007 “Private Life”. Candida’s talent has taken her to the next level of shooting her first feature film “Ana Begins” and she shows an extremely promising career, excelling in every project she shoots.


Anton Short

Since graduating from the University of Leeds, Anton has always been passionate about making thought provoking work across a range of different media.

Anton’s has a vast array of credits editing a range of projects for the BBC, Channel 4, Discovery Networks and the UK Film Council. Anton is also an aspiring Director having directed (and edited) two short films. Anton’s first short film commission “Dumped” won the Young Co-operative Filmmakers Award” and Anton’s second commission as a Director- Editor “Bent Double” has recently been selected to screen at the London Film Festival. Anton also edited “Planet Out “Award nominee “The Piper”.


Heather Fenoughty

Sound Design and Music Composition


Heather Fenoughty specializes in Music Composition and Sound Design, and has a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Arts in Music Design for the Moving Image.

Heather has scored and designed a wide range of media from shorts, documentaries, promotional to animations. Heather’s first gig “The First Time it Hits” received national acclaim as a prime example of digital media. Heather also composed and sound designed an award winning cell animation & short computer animation for the National Centre for Computer Animation (NCCA). Heather now is a regular Music Composer and Sound Designer for production companies in the North of England as she goes from strength to strength.

Lucy trained at the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts in London and has an amazingly diverse range of acting skills. Her career is blossoming and entering a new phase. Since playing the lead in “Private Life” Lucy has performed in a BBC Drama (UK) as the female lead in “Nuclear Race”. She is also becoming a regular on British television. Lucy has been the guest lead in credible television dramas “Wild at Heart” and “New Street Law”. Lucy’s has continued going from strength to strength and has starred in Hollywood thriller “The Bourne Ultimatum” and 2008’a Horror Thriller “Mindflesh” She now also has the main role of Sam on ITV's new soap Moving Wallpaper. So viewers, “Watch this space!”

Toby trained at the Guildford School of Acting. Toby is a talented stage and screen artiste with many credits under his belt. Toby made his name in television from being a regular in British soap operas and progressing to performing in UK television dramas such as “Rosemary and Thyme” and “Born & Bred.” in which Toby’s exceptional diverse talents are on display. Toby also starred in “Quadrophenia” and “Quills”. Since filming “Private Life” Toby was cast as “Harry Carson” at the renowned Manchester Royal Exchange in the play “Mary Barton” alongside William Ash and Patrick Bridgman. This play was chosen to mark the 30 th Anniversary of The Royal Exchange scoring rave reviews.

Jana is an extremely talented all round performer and musician. Jana has appeared in various UK television roles including “Dr. Who”, “Silent Witness” and “Marple”. Jana is also the lead singer in her band called “Piefinger” having launched their first album “Where you might go” they have been touring the UK . Jana spent 3 months in Montreal starring in a 3 hour drama for the BBC and Discovery Channel called “Superstorm”.
