Synopsis

Yorkshire, England 1952.

Ruth Ackroyd leaves the monotony of her work
at her father's textile mill on a Friday evening and secretly takes the train to Manchester. There, she meets a man on the platform, but all is not what it seems...

Background

‘Private Life’ is writer / director Abbe Robinson’s second commissioned film shot in
Yorkshire.
The film is set in the early 1950's and utilises some fantastic Yorkshire locations. The production was
fortunate to have the participation of many local people as extras,but it was still a huge challenge for the
production team to shoot a period drama on 35mm on a low budget.

Making 'Private Life' was a real labour of love, but we were very committed to telling a story we felt hadn't
really been explored before on film...
